The Model 1 is our classic flat-bar touring bike, with good quality components, designed to last the lifetime of the bike. Its available in both 26” and 700c wheel sizes.

The frame has Shimano Deore 30 speed gears fitted as standard, and these are reliable, effective components with a two year warranty.

We generally specify V-brakes, as we believe they are more reliable, require less maintenance and are just as effective in normal use, as disk brakes. From Januray 2022 we are also offering these bikes with hydraulic or cable disc brakes for a small upgrade fee.

The wheels are perhaps the most important components after the frame - they need to be built to withstand the weight of the rider and luggage, and cope with whatever the surface throws at them. We specify Shimano Deore hubs, 36 plain gauge spokes and Ryde rims, as the best compromise between strength, weight and quality at this price-point. 

Mudguards and a rear rack is also provided within the asking price, (unlike most of our competitors). A basic rear rack made by Tortec or Racktime . Flinger or SKS black mudguards with stainless steel stays come as standard.

Unlike cheaper bikes that look similar, made by volume manufacturers, our bikes contain no hidden cost-cutting. The whole groupset is Shimano Deore - with high quality bottom brackets, headsets and hubs. The wheels are hand finished and retensioned, giving you the best quality wheels at this price-point. If you’re on a budget this bike can take you and your luggage round the world with little preparation.
